The Visual Examination (VT)
The visual examination is a major method of non-destructive examination. On its own, the visual examination allows the quantification of surface defects. This is a basis, e.g., for proper evaluation of weldings, of casted or wrought material surfaces.
The visual examination (visual control) is an optical test method for the recognition of mechanical damages, dimensional deviations, color changes or faulty weldings.
These techniques are applied:
- Direct visual examination without utilities
- Direct visual examination with utilities (magnifier, mirror, endoscope etc.)
- Indirect visual examination (camera, videoscope etc.)
We employ the visual examination as a stand-alone test-method as well as accompanying other test methods or prior to the application of other test methods. Not least to find out, whether the application of other test methods is possible or reasonable.
